Monopoly's Community Chest is Getting a Makeover

Ahh... Monopoly, It's a classic and if you're like me you have had your run in with this game at least once in your life. And like everyone else you know you've fudged the rules on occasion to either speed up the game or make it more to your liking...

Don't get me started on winning because when it comes to strategy, I am not that guy. In fact the only way I see to win is get a hold of both the Boardwalk and Park place early and drive everyone else in to oblivion by blowing money on hotels and charging exorbitant rent when they land on them and again that has never been me. I'm just glad to get back to go and get my 200 bucks unscathed by coincidental lucky dice rolls. although don't underestimate the damage you can do with cheap lots too...

It turns out the folks over at Hasbro are looking to make a change to the game, mainly in the community chest cards, which are in dire need of a makeover. Winning 2nd place in a beauty contest? Gone... besides that only got you 10 bucks... I'm more of a fan of the collect $50 bucks from every player.

Anyway... Covid-19 has fundamentally changed how a lot of us look and interact with our own community and According to Eric Nyman of Hasbro:

“The world has changed a lot since Monopoly became a household name more than 85 years ago, and clearly today community is more important than ever, We felt like 2021 was the perfect time to give fans the opportunity to show the world what community means to them through voting on new Community Chest Cards. We’re really excited to see what new cards get voted in!”

Here's where you and I come into the picture... the new cards that will hit board games later in the fall are expected to be more community centric and feature themes that are more relatable to modern players. There is even a site where you can make your suggestions too. Maybe a card like... you helped your neighbors plow through the snow... collect 5 bucks...

All I ask is we leave the get out of jail free card in there... wait that's in the chance deck... we're good...
