Route 66 Family Buffet is one step closer to opening its doors.

It was heartbreaking when Furr's closed down everywhere leaving buffet lovers in sadness and despair. When we first told you about Route 66 Family Buffet over a year ago, we were so excited that Amarillo would once again have a family buffet where Furr's left and opening.

Many have wondered if Route 66 Family Buffet would come to fruition, and the answer is yes. The owners and managers have had several obstacles to overcome, but soon you will be able to grab a plate and fill it with love, and by love, I mean great homemade food. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, chicken fried steak, turkey and dressing, steak and desserts, including pies that will leave you drooling

They are hiring!

Route 66 Family Buffet is currently hiring staff, it takes a great staff to create a great experience for the buffet diner. If you are passionate about serving up smiles and making memories, then you could become a member of the Route 66 Family. You can apply in person at the restaurant, 7220 I-40, from 9 am - 4 pm.

They are still finishing up some of the remodeling and perfecting the menu and are looking at an opening day at the end of August.

It will be a great day in Amarillo when we can walk into the doors of Route 66 Family Buffet be greeted, pay for our buffet, be seated, and then dig into that family buffet.
