In times of war, it is crucial to have numerous military bases across the country, especially in Texas, for training, building, and storage. As years passed, the surplus bases were shut down, and for many cities, the base was crucial for their livelihood. Some cities thrived after the closure, while others never fully recovered.

The history of these bases is mostly fascinating, and unfortunately sad at the same time, as we see the ruins and decay of a once hustling and bustling base.

Although some of these bases went on to become another life, like wildlife refuges, while others were turned into places for agriculture, some are still dying a slow life of decay.  Left for those who are curious about their history, roam through the remnants.  Some have all but disappeared only to be remembered in pictures and memories.

As of today, Texas is home to 15 active military bases.  Four of them belong to the United States Air Force, 5 belong to the United States Army, 3 to the United States Navy, and the rest are joint bases.
