Best Places to Fish at Lake Meredith This Fall
One of the great things about summer is going to the lake. Now that Fall is here, it's still fun to go to the lake, but most of your fun will have to remain on shore on in the boat. One of those fun things to do is fish.
Lake Meredith offers excellent fishing opportunities. My family and I enjoy spending time on the lake, engaging in activities such as boating, cruising, tubing, and fishing. Fishing is one of our favorite pastimes. We often spend time figuring out which lure or bait to use and deciding on which area of Lake Meredith to try our luck. The lake has some fantastic fishing spots. Once the fall temperatures arrive in the area, we can look forward to some truly great fishing.

Some of the fish you'll catch in Lake Meredith vary. The most common fish in the lake are:
- Walleye
- White bass
- Channel catfish
- Blue catfish
- Yellow catfish
- White Crappie
- Largemouth bass
- Sand Bass
- Trout
- Yellow Perch
Lake Meredith was stocked with over 400,000 walleye in April 2024. Most catfish in the lake are native because of the Canadian River, the rest of the fish are usually stocked periodically.
However, they have been known to find a non-native species in the lake.
This is a Pacu fish and it is in the piranha family, however, it's vegetarian. The most creepy thing about this fish is it has human-like teeth. Don't dump your pet fish in the lake, it's bad for the ecosystem.
Fishing in Lake Meredith!
Hopefully, you'll have more luck with the bigger fish than we did. This catfish was a minnow compared to Meredith Mike. We threw him back to let him live a longer life and grow.
Lake Meredith is a great lake and only 45 minutes from Amarillo. So if you're feeling like a little fishing, you can make it a day trip this weekend. There's plenty of great fishing no matter if you have a boat or not.
