And then... the rain came...

The official start of the game was scheduled for 7:05pm but the first pitch didn't happen until just after 10:15pm due to all the rain in the area. For many fans this was a little more than what they were hoping for. The official attendance was just north of 5,600 fans at Hodgetown and for those who stuck around after the delay and getting a replica of the 2019 championship ring, there was a very lopsided game of baseball against the Midland Rockhounds.

The Sod Poodle Bats Woke Up Early

The Sod Poodles started off with a two run homer in the first off of Jake McCarthy that brings in a run leading to a 2-0 start pair that up with another RBI Homer from Jarret Rindfleisch lead to a 4-0 start that the Rockhounds couldn't catch up to. The same story played out all night as both Jake and Jarret had repeat performances later in the game and help from Alexis Pantoja and Alek Thomas who each brought in singles giving the poodles the 10-0 shutout after a shortened 7 inning game.

The Rockhounds just couldn't find their groove

The Midland Rockhounds for their part turned in a rough night only getting batters on base on one hit. The Amarillo pitching staff nearly turned in a no hitter on the evening until the 6th inning.
