How to Avoid Amarillo’s Crazy Flu Going Around
I don't where it came from but it seems like EVERYONE has the flu. I have some friends that work at a local urgent care in Amarillo and they shared with me that they had a four-hour wait for patients because the flu has gotten so bad.
I believe it! Local daycares have had to temporarily close their doors due to the flu and the Amarillo fire department even had to reschedule a public safety event to help prevent the flu.
Here are a few tips to help keep you and your family healthy this year.
- 1
Avoid sharing food
I know that hot sauce looks yummy, but seriously... double dipping can lead to the flu.
- 2
Get enough sleep
Studies have proven that getting the right amount of sleep can boost your immune system.
- 3
Keep the windows closed
The weather has been on the nice side lately so you may be tempted to crack your windows. Probably not a good idea, if a sneezy neighbor can't stop those germs can come to your house.
- 4
Keep your lips off infected partners
If bae is sick, let the makeout session wait.
- 5
Wash your hands after touching any communal surfaces
Gas station counter, light switch, office doorknob. Whatever it is make sure to wash your hands!
- 6
Keep things away from your mouth
If you zone out and put a pen to your mouth or maybe you wipe your mouth with your hand when you think...either way watch your habits and keep your mouth away from possible extra germs
