Borger Man Indicted on Felony Injury of a Child

A Borger resident has been indicted by a Hutchinson County grand jury. According to public court records, Alyzar Benjamin Mata was indicted on December 7 2022 for the felony charge of Injury to a Child with Serious Bodily Injury.
According to Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office public jail records, the indictment stems from Mata’s arrest on February 15, 2022, for Injury to a Child. According to the Hutchinson County Mugshots Facebook page, numerous messages were sent in stating Mata had allegedly shaken his baby causing the injuries.
Injury to a child with serious bodily injury is a felony offense. If convicted of the first-degree felony, which is if the act was done intentionally, and resulted in bodily injury or impairment. Mata could receive between 5 to 99 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. The second-degree felony which is, recklessly causing serious bodily injury or mental impairment, faces up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
